On Tuesday afternoon I boarded a plane and headed to Washginton DC to visit my beloved John fellow that everyone always asks about:) Things are great - we havealready had adventure after adventure in a few short days.
My flight arrived early, just as John was leaving his house. Luckily that gave me time to send out the rest of the work e-mails I had written on the plane and get my luggage. I waited outside and he showed up like the knight in shining armor that he is:) We were both dressed up so we went straight to the DC temple Visitor's Center to look at the Christmas lights and listen to the DC Orchestra. They were amazing! After the night was over (see video) we headed home only to bust our back left tire on the 495. We waited for 4 hours until a tow truck guy and John's dad came to the rescue! What a great time we had laughing in the car and listening to music. Like Elder Wirthlin said, always look on the light side of life!
Our time together just got better and better with a trip to Old Town Alexandria. We stopped for lunch at King Street Blues which had the BEST ambiance but not the greatest food. Then we found parking (not an easy task) and shopped in the cutest little boutiques I have ever seen! Good thing I had John with me or I would have bought every cute little Christmas trinket in sight.
After debating on what to do that evening, we decided on a quiet night at home, renting Bella at the Red Box and our favorite little snacks. We also ran by Walgreens and bought a few games to pass the time away. After taking a few naps, playing The Office trivia game and throwing popcorn in eachother's mouths, we rang in the New Year with me, John, John's dad, and Anderson Cooper. We banged a few pots and pans outside before freezing our tails off and then I was off to bed!
So here's to a great 2009! John and I coined it (well actually I coined it) "Now you're mine in 2009"
So beautiful... and the temple too!
